Met Su Yan, a chain of exclusive sushi and noodle restaurants in London, asked us to devise a new brand identity for them. We based the concept around the lotus flower, creating a unique floral design for each element in their menu. The refreshed identity was rolled out online, in the restaurant interiors and through printed matter, including menus and stationery.

No.1 Harbourside commissioned us to devise a hand-illustrated creative direction for Bristol’s Harbour Market and the Sunday Brunch Market.  This was then rolled out in print in a variety of marketing material.

Xavier and Julie wanted a simple but stylish poster to send friends to invite them to their tropical island wedding in the Caribbean.  The happy couple wanted to pay homage to retro travel posters.

Claire (a very talented accessories designer) and Daniel were having an outdoors wedding abroad and wanted us to design them an invitation that reflected the spirit of the ceremony.  We were also asked to create a housing for the invitation and all of the extra information that their guests needed to receive.

The final stationery consisted of a foil-embossed invitation and a blind-embossed box, all held together by a simple coloured string and tag.

We were approached by James & Sarah to create a cute illustrative route for their wedding stationery, which was to reflect the promise of fun and the natural setting for their big day.

We rolled-out the designs through their invitations, save the date and thank you cards, place settings, and decor.

We illustrated & designed this beautiful foil-embossed wedding invitation for good friends Charley & Julia, who celebrated their big day with a tour through London’s east end.

Award-winning Hungarian winemakers, Weninger, approached Studio Baum to brand its new, limited edition range of wines, Saybritz. The brief was to develop a minimal identity and label that represented the handing down of the Saybritz grape from generation to generation within the Weninger family.

The lovely Jessica at Magical Quests Drama Parties, asked us to create a new brand identity for her company, which provides bespoke interactive creative parties for young people based on their favourite novels, characters and stories.  She wanted the identity to reflect the magic that she creates with her team of talented actors, and through her events’ stories and games.  We designed promotional cards and a website to compliment the new brand, which suggests an enchanted experience awaits. Studio Baum were asked to create a new identity and printed material for the ‘Big Sky’ events, including the internationally renowned ‘Big Sky Jazz Festival’.

Studio Baum was invited to create a snappy marketing strategy to encourage outside investment in Margate. Using clichéd statements often used to describe down-at-heel British seaside towns, we shook things up and employed them to work for Margate, the original hip seaside town.  Working with clever copy, we designed a collection of bright, fun postcards and accompanying stationery using seaside stripes.

Screen South asked Studio Baum to design a flyer for its ‘Hidden Treasures’ film programme – a season of rarely seen films from the southeast’s film archive, publicly screened across the region.  The design treatment was based on a retro cinema ticket, which gave the material a nostalgic feel.

Studio Baum won a three-way pitch to create the brand identity for this new international television production company.  The brief asked that the logo represent the company’s unique punchy, youth-oriented programming using a character. Stationery was created to accompany the new identity, including hard-wearing plastic business cards.

Schools Council UK commissioned Studio Baum to rebrand its ‘Voicebox’ magazine, and produce two new directions for its primary and secondary school audiences. For the primary school magazine we devised the four ‘Voicebots’ characters that appear throughout the publication, whilst the secondary school design pursued a more edgy, comic book aesthetic.

Studio Baum won the contract to create the identity for Testbed, an annual visual arts event hosted by Leeds Met Gallery. We subsequently designed a variety of printed material – including flyers, postcards, stickers, booklets and posters – for each Testbed event.

We typeset and printed a run of limited edition letterpressed posters of the first verse of our favourite poem by Edgar Guest, ‘It Couldn’t Be Done’.

Canterbury Christ Church University asked Studio Baum to design a vehicle to contain and communicate the statistical outcomes from the ‘Get A Shot’ photographic project that the University had piloted.  The outcome was a pocket-sized annual report that was accessible to both funders and the project’s young participants.

Creative Partnerships invited Studio Baum to take part in an eighteen-month long education project with St. John’s School in Epping. The focus on the project was the environment.  Taking the school’s surroundings of the beautiful, ancient Epping Forest as the starting point, we worked with Years 7 and 8 students to collate, create and curate a book about the ecology of and around the school. The content of the book was created over the course of the project and included creating artworks out of found and discarded objects, branding the project, cooking with seasonal produce, making home-made teas and working out energy consumption for the school.  We set up a mini studio from which we worked with the students throughout the project.

Studio Baum designed a programme for ‘6 from 4’, an exhibition showcasing emerging artists at Leeds Met Gallery. The brief required the piece of print to have a high pick up value but with a low production cost, so we produced a type heavy, one-colour piece of print produced on a newspaper stock

Dubstep producer and DJ, Elemental, asked us to work with him and artist, Amos Shein, on the design of his seminal album, ‘Messages from the Void’.  We designed the artwork for the record and CD, and created a typographic treatment that would compliment Shein’s beautiful graphical drawings.

We worked with super-talented artist, Dan Hillier, to create a limited edition run of letterpress business cards for the lovely chaps at Hendrick’s Gin.  These hand-crafted business cards are triplexed (a sandwich of three layers of white and black card), featuring six of Dan’s mythical and majestic portraits on one side, and our typography on the other.

Studio Baum created a new identity and all accompanying marketing and exhibition material for Margate Rocks, a contemporary visual arts festival. This included the festival programme, posters and invitations, a website, way-finding signage, badges and exhibition graphics. The theme of the festival was ‘Arts & Ecology’, so we used the logo to create floral shapes that alluded to nature. All paper stocks were FSC accredited and printed using vegetable inks.
